Statement from Transport UK

Two East Midlands Railway trains have been involved in a collision, and we understand that a number of people have been injured as a result of this incident. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

Our team at EMR are on the scene with Network Rail and are assisting emergency services. We’d like to thank all those involved in the response. We will continue to do all that we can to support British Transport Police and health teams.

Transport UK and EMR will fully cooperate with the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and work to ensure that everything is done to determine the cause. But for now, our focus is on our passengers and staff impacted.
